Derby Unitarians, at the Friar Gate Chapel:
- have a long history dating back to around 1650 and are, therefore, one of Derby's oldest non-conformist congregations.
- strive to be a beacon of love, tolerance, justice, reason and spiritual exploration as we worship together and foster growth in ourselves, each other, our community and our earth.
- affirm the authority of the individual conscience in matters of religion and therefore embrace a wide spectrum of beliefs and spiritualities.
- honour the lives and teachings of all the great souls of humanity, recognising that we can all learn from one another.
- welcome you regardless of creed, gender, sexual orientation or class.

Making a Difference is where we put our faith into action and, following on from my reporting a talk given at Charnwood Fellowship on the work of a local Charity (Loughborough) 'Intercare',
Derby Unitarians have made the decision to sponsor a Clinic in Africa.
The chosen clinic is St. Mary's Dispensary in the Moshi region of Tanzania, a remote and often isolated clinic serving a population of 4,000, many migrant Masai. The clinic has 10 beds including maternity and male and female medical beds. It is supervised by a single nurse with a visiting doctor from Kibosho Hospital.
We shall have a retiring collection on the 4th Sunday of each month, which will be sent via Intercare on a monthly basis.
